Why You Should NEVER Overfill Your Boxes When Relocating
Posted by admin on August 13th, 2007 filed in RelocatingNo doubt about it, you will be tempted to overfill boxes, crates, and other containers during your move. That’s because you want to get everything packed and ready to go.
But is this a good idea? Definitely no. Overfilling boxes can be hazardous to you, to those who are lifting the boxes, not to mention the items themselves. Things may fall out of the boxes and get damaged. Someone may get hurt, etc.
Try to avoid overfilling boxes by wrapping and placing items in the box one at a time. Layering dishes and glassware will allow you to fit more inside without overfilling. Check the weight of the box your are filling in. If you find that it is too heavy for you to lift, then it has too much stuffs inside. Remember not to fit too many items into the box because it can cause the box to break.
Do take care when packing books, computer equipment, and other items. These items seem to weigh less before they are packed into a box but can be really heavy when inside the box.
As a security measure, always place newspaper or bubble wrap over the items and seal the box with packing tape before you move.
